Permanent invited conductor
Horia Andreescu is the chief conductor of the Radio Orchestras, an associate conductor of the George Enescu Philharmonic, founder of the chamber orchestra The Virtuosos of Bucharest, and associate professor at the National Music University in Bucharest. During his exceptional performance held at the George Enescu International Festival together with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra from London, Music critics and the public appreciated his interpretive vision of Enescu’s Third Symphony and how it combined with the feeling of this orchestral body. The Royal Philharmonic was interested in producing it on CD, as a means to understanding and savouring Enescu’s music. With the soloist of the concert, violinist Maxim Vengherov, the collaboration attained artistic fusion. The conductor’s capacity for artistic synergy has been noticed by most of the brilliant soloists that have joined him in the biggest concert halls of the world: Anne-Sophie Mutter, Viktor Tretiakov, Oleg Kogan, Uto Ughi, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Zoltan Kocsis, Dimitri Alexeev, Natalia Guttman, Mischa Maisky, Michael Roll, Rudolf Buchbinder, and more. The last of the approximately 50 LPs and CDs produced by Horia Andreescu are: two CDs from 2003 and 2004, together with Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester Berlin (pieces by Prokofiev, Respighi, Hindemith, Constantin Silvestri and - for RCA company, Red Seal - Georg Katzer), a CD with the National Radio Orchestra (Olah, Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, Enescu) and another CD, together with Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie, with pieces by Pascal Bentoiu, created for the Radio Broadcasting Company from Koln and the German record label Hastedt. In December 2004, he prepared, again with Rundfunk Sinfonieorkester Berlin, another CD recording for Deutschland-Radio Berlin and the German company CPO. This was his 15th album produced together with a European orchestra.Horia Andreescu’s constant interest in promoting Romanian music (Enescu as well as other Romanian composers) is obvious from his efforts in Berlin, Vienna, Munich, Amsterdam, Madrid, Japan, etc. However, this interest is best reflected in more than 2000 minutes of Romanian music, conducted by Horia Andreescu, which can be found in the Kardex of the Romanian Radio Broadcasting Company.Among the awards and distinctions received by conductor Horia Andreescu is the UNESCO award (Romania, 2003), which honours his efforts in promoting Romanian musical identity across the world. The Choir Conductor
